Job Description:
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of network communications. Must use knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Experience with leading and directing the work of others. Possesses a wide degree of creativity in problem solving.
- Manages the planning, configuration, installation, systems management, and coordination of enterprise LANs/WANs to ensure a cost effective and efficient infrastructure that will provide the processing power essential to business unit and departmental operations.
- Responsible for the technical architecture and recommendations related to LAN/WAN internetworking.
- With network operations group, has key responsibility for resolving hardware and software technical problems and malfunctions related to LANs/WANs in order to minimize client productivity loss caused by technical outages.
- Makes decisions that are critical in the areas of throughput analysis, problem solving, and infrastructure planning, with the potential to affect the successful execution of business transactions.
- Proactively supports projects teams throughout the enterprise that are developing distributed applications and distributions databases.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline required; Master's degree is desirable.
Experience:
- 6 to 8 years of related experience in infrastructure/network environments, network design, and planning and implementing LAN/WAN technology.
- 3 years of experience in the management of multiple development projects.
At least 2 years of experience during which one or more of the following has occurred:
- Demonstrated successful development and implementation of new technologies and work processes
- Demonstrated high competency in project management and the execution of multiple or large projects, with experience in cross-functional environments
- Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary, high-performance work teams/groups
- Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
- Experience in effectively communicating with customers, employees, and senior management
